Tafawol was founded in 2016 as a refugee-led community organisation, starting as a small initiative to support children with special needs within local schools. Over time, Tafawol has evolved into a multi-site, integrated institution offering comprehensive services to support refugees and migrants.
Our programmes include a year-round school for migrant children with disabilities, speech and language therapy services for children with special needs, including physiotherapy, legal aid programmes, vocational skills and employment training for migrant women and single mothers, as well as a kindergarten programme, the production of online educational videos, and psychosocial support programmes for migrant communities.
Tafawol is located in the Faisal district of Giza Governorate, Egypt, and works in partnership with a wide network of refugee-led community organisations, as well as local and international non-governmental organisations. Through these partnerships, we provide basic resources, safe and inclusive community spaces, and support community empowerment and protection issues for refugees. We also offer specialised professional services to families with children with special needs or disabilities.

Tafawol Association seeks to build a society in which refugees, migrants, and the most vulnerable groups, especially children with special needs and their families, enjoy a dignified and safe life, with equal opportunities for protection, education, and psychological and social support.
